More rain, and art

hi friends. I hope you are having great weather where you are, because it's been crappy all weekend here. Friday was a gorgeous day, the first one where the weather was warm enough to go outside without a jacket. On my lunch break I sat under a magnolia tree. It was so filled with blossoms, that the branches looked like they couldn't hold them up. Of course I never have a camera with me when I need it! The scent of the blossoms was just heavenly. I enjoyed sitting in the sun, and letting the fragrance wash over me for a few moments. Little did I know it would start raining that evening, and hasn't stopped since.
I sure hope this is not going to be like 2 summers ago, where it rained the entire summer!
Hey, at least it's a great day to stay inside and paint.

I managed to get a few little ACEOs done, mostly owls. There are several cards that turned out so bad, I don't think there is any way of salvaging them. Don't you hate it when you have a great idea, and it just doesn't work for you?

I am almost finished my altered book of girls and songs. Below is one of the illustrations,  and on the left side of the book are the lyrics to the song Wildfire.  My handwriting is so bad, I'm embarrassed to show it, lol!
Painting in a children's board book is wonderful! I will definitely be looking to pick up more used books to recycle, and to give new life to.  The pages are so sturdy, you can do anything to them and they won't warp.
Great way to experiment with mixed media techniques, without ruining a good art journal.

That's it for now, thanks for reading!

OMG Betty! These are so wonderful!!! Love them all....I happen to adore owls and horses...so no need to choose a favorite!

Are you using a board book for your altering? I might need to pilfer one of the ones my kid doesn't use anymore...heehee :)

I bet that tree was glorious...I could picture it so vividly in my mind's eye....

Thanks for the beautiful splash of colors. the weather is terrible here too. It has been raining for a couple of day and today you can hear the wind roaring too. *sigh*

I love your owls, even the one standing under the rain, makes me think of sunny days ;-)

Pink, these are so good. I love the little owls huddled under the umbrella of the mushrooms. It is wet here as well, wish we could send some to those that need it.

And these recent pieces are lovely really love the owls eyes and the girl with the horse is my favourite!!! I just love your use of colour in these :0) I know how you feel about not blogging much lately. I'm feeling the same I'm still managing one a week on average but I feel like I've been side tracked with my jewellery and have neglected my painting and drawing lately so I'm trying to rectify that! :0)

I just adore your little owls. I especially love the first piece you posted. :) It has rained here a lot this week, too. It pretty much stopped today! I love your art journal page. I think its wonderful to use song lyrics to accompany your art - especially if the meaning is personal to you. You can feel the love between the girl and her horse. :) Theresa
