new mermaid painting

It's been a while since I did  a mixed media paintings on wood, so here's my newest. I must have spent at least 10 hours on it, the background originally had seaweed, but I hated how that looked, so I kept playing around with it until I was happy with the result. I forgot how much fun it was to use my wood burner. It also gave me a chance to get out my glitter and gold stars, lol!

Since the weather is still crappy and overcast, I will take advantage and stay inside working on more art.

I have a question for my fellow bloggers: does this happen to you?  when I am writing a blog post, and I hit the enter key to move to a new paragraph, the curser jumps to the top of the page...what's up with that?? and I noticed last night, Blogger won't let me sign out. Is there some weird glitches happening?

hope you are all having a lovely weekend where ever you are, and thanks for reading!

Oh my! She is so cute. I am actually working on a mermaid myself. A small sculpture, but I can't decide if I want her to have human arms or long fins instead. So, I'll set her aside for now.
I do love your mermaid, and the colors you used.

sweet little mermaid - great background - it seems like you had lots of fun 'playing' sometimes i think art must have been invented so us adults still have an excuse to play.

She is a lovely sea creature!

Blogger has been weird lately - everybody's followers disappeared yesterday and posts have been a challenge. Don't take it personally it's universal.

The mermaid is perfection. The colors you "arrived at" are wonderful. Isn't it funny how the art tells you when it is finished? Love it. The Olde Bagg
and I think blogger needs a good spanking......honestly.

Love the mermaid and the colors you used. The last colored pencil sketch I did was a mermaid. From the comments you've received there seems to be a lot of us interested in mermaids right now. Yes, blogger is having some major issues.

Your mermaid is awesome! I love your art.

Sometimes I can't sign out either and I have to close the window and then re-open it to sign out. There has been a lot of strangeness lately.

Your mermaid is so beautiful!!!! I love the soft background colors you used. :) Blogger has been having ALL kinds of issues as of late. Thankfully, none have caused me grief...this time. Although my list of followers has bee playing peek-a-boo. Hope the weather clears up for you soon!

such a lovely mermaid. I enjoyed hearing about your process of making this piece feel good to you.

I hear many people have been having blogger problems, but that has not happened to me.

Wow I love it.

Looking at this I think you should try your hand at wooden ACEO's, they make ACEO sized wood blanks, I bet you'd have fun with them too.

I don't notice that happening to me.

You hit the nail on the head with your comment, I needed to do something that wasn't structured, I just wanted to 'get my paint on' it feels so good to just paint without purpose and see what happens. Although saying that I do have a certain 'feel' to my paintings and don't totally free fall into them.
I would love to see your abstracts if you ever do any. It feels so good to branch out :)

As for the weather, well everyones well wishes the other day have worked.
It's scorching hot here in the uk at the moment, I'm going to look like a lobster by the end of the weekend lol ;)
