February Blahs...

hi everyone. What a month this has been! I don't know if there is something in the atmosphere, but I feel like I've been in a bit of a funk...oh well, we can't be positive and up all the time. I actually don't mind these moods, since it's part of the ebb and flow of life. I just remind myself that this too shall pass.

At least I've been getting a bit of art done...I painted a few more illustrations on vintage pages. So far I've got 3 new ones, the one shown above is the only one I've listed in my Etsy shop so far, but there are 2 cat ones as well. Of course, my absolute favorite one is ruined! I planned out a series a while ago, and set out to make the first one to see how it was.Well, I loved the  drawing, however, when I put a gel medium over the top to protect the page, it got all warped! Don't you hate it when you work on some artwork you really like, then one wrong move ruins the whole thing? Live and learn, lol!

For those of you who know Renee from her blog, please send a prayer her way. The last post by her daughter was heart-breaking. She could  use a miracle right  about now...

Betty, I really like these paintings on the vintage paper! And yes, I hear you on the February funk - and ruining a favorite piece of artwork. Done that!

Have lit a candle at home for Renee and also on my blog. This is so heartbreaking, and also very hard to grasp.

Oh, I know that feeling!
Just happened to me on a layout in fact. I spent HOURS on it! And it was fine, but I had to go and mess with it. I thought I'd add some paint! OMG, it was like my paintbrush had a spasm all over the place. I got paint on the journaling, on my photos- it's totally wrecked! So you're aren't alone hun! At least you have this cutie done, and she is perfect! Maybe the February funk is widespread!!!!!!! take care, xOxO

I'm sorry to hear about your February funk. I have had a lot of these periods in the last year and I like that you're able to work through them. Sometimes I freeze up.

Here's hoping that the clouds will lift for you.

How very cute she is. Love the paper background too. I think the funk is just the winter blahs. Sounds silly but I am taking vitamin D which is making my moods better.

Your little painting is adorable. I've been battling the February blahs as well!!

And yes, I have been burning a candle all day for Renee and put a little sidebar item up for folks to remember her.

Thank you for sharing Renee's blog, I haven't met her yet but her daughter's post was so moving, and just so very, very sad. I'll be keeping her in my prayers for sure.

I've been in a funk, too, Betty. I think it's the lack of sunshine and fresh air. I've had about enough of this winter stuff..lol :) I can't tell you how many times I've messed up my work by taking one more step, covering up stuff I shouldn't have, or clear coating things that were not dry and therefore smearing everything..lol It's maddening, isn't it! I do love your cutie and love the background papers, it adds that cool extra touch!

Hey Pink! I didn't know you blogged about Vitamin D before, I take this as a confirmation for you, so go take some!!!
I take Trace Minerals Research Liquid Vitamin D, it is the only one that has worked. Doc said I was dangerously low on D but I wouldn't take the synthetic prescription one he offered. And the next blood test proved my D levels were up to normal range.
Anyways, thanks for the comment on my Bonny. Don't know what I would do without her, she is my therapy dog for sure. I'll give her a hug for you and a belly rub too.

Great idea to paint on vintage paper! I am always so down this time of year too- due to the dark long winters. Hang in there!!

Oh my gosh, I totally feel what you are saying. I'm going through a tough time right now. I know the art that I would make with all of this swirling around in my head would probably be amazing, I just can't sit down and get to it. Like you said, this too shall pass.

My thoughts are with you that your funk shall pass sooner rather than later!

Going to check out Renee's blog.

I have certainly been there with that funk, Betty. But I love your outlook on life, plus you are really good at cheering up other people, especially me...so that is a great thing, right?

Love your new piece.

Hi Betty! Your creations on vintage paper are wonderful! For the ruining of art, I do that too. I hate it when that happens.

Thanks so much for your sweet visit as always! It really breaks my heart to think of Renee's pain.
