Sunday Sketch and a page from my sketchbook

hi everyone. Two weeks in a row I have a Sunday Sketch, yay for me!! I've never had trouble sketching, in fact when I watch a movie, I keep a sketchbook beside my in case an idea comes up.  My problem has been sticking to a schedule. Joining Blue Chair Diary's Sunday sketches is forcing me to stick to it.  The above sketch is what I worked on this afternoon. I wanted a whimsical kind of fairy girl face, which I may turn into a painting at some point.  Too many projects!

A Page from my Sketchbook
Last week I enjoyed sharing one of my sketchbook pages, and thought I would do it again. This is one I did last night when I went to bed. I had some ideas for my little owl ACEO series, and wanted to get them down before I forgot. Today I am working on the bunny and owl one, and I swear, sometimes (lots of times actually!) my rough sketches are better than the finished drawing. I get them down on good paper, then make so many bad decisions with color. I signed up for a color workshop a month or so ago and have yet to do the first lesson!! In fact, I won't even tell you how many workshops I have signed up for, it's embarassing, lol!
This page isn't by any means pretty, in fact it's quite sloppy, no shading or details, but this is how I work. I'm curious as to how other artist sketchbooks look.   Feel free to share one of your pages if you like....

I think she has a sweet yet somewhat sad or lonely face, I love it, she's beautiful!

Great fun seeing your sketchbook page too, looks to me like 'Spring' is on your mind!

Sketch On!

that face looks like it has lots of bad memories, I think it's her lips that make think that, it's pursed together in that "I am not happy" way

I also have trouble in choosing colors, sometimes I complicated it by adding too much but you know the colors are right when you finally find it

I don't actually sketch out ideas that much but I did it the same you do and sometimes those sketches are indeed much better than what I did for the final piece but it's a process so I don't think you should stress yourself on this

I love to see other people's thought process and a sketch book is the perfect way to see it. Thanks for sharing. I have messed up lots of things too by choosing the wrong colors. What kind of color class are you signed up for?

Love your face...she is so sweet. Definitely fairy like! And your sketches are wonderful.
I hear you about signing up for workshops and then I never do the work. I get so far behind. So I quit signing up!! Too embarrassing. LOL!!

What a lovely fairy! She looks very contemplative & a bit tired, but really beautiful. Your owl sketches area adorable, you are so creative! Color can be the most rewarding thing and the most frustrating! Are you taking a color theory class? If you are try to stick with it, I took one and I learned so much, it was really helpful. If you're looking for another source, this is a great book that my teacher based a lot of her lessons on:

Keep up the great work! Happy SS, Susan

I think your sketches are lovely! Sadly, I rarely sketch anymore. Perhaps I should look into your sketch group. Thank you so much for your very kind words of comfort last week - they were greatly appreciated. Hugs, Lisa

Hi Betty, thanks for stopping by and your comments. The Doll/s are from an add for diet coke, they do a dance routine in the office, kinda cute :)

Betty, your sketches are just so beautiful all of them. Love you're owls and the cute little rabbit and girl, well just made me go into a fairy land somewhere.
I have bought quite a few books from amazon this last week, How to draw animals, sea life, etc. Going to order how to draw food. Just so exciting to see your idea's flowing.
I know if you bring these to paintings they will just be so awesome!

Thank you Betty also for your beautiful messages. I feel that I can go back to Prof Loeasher with a stronger case now. I just cannot believe she didn't think of this.
I found the new dentist called The Fountain and also does facial surgery and honestly thought it would cost me a fortune. They where so nice to me. Mr Hussain wrote a letter for me, took two extra digital kind of images to double check on the xray and the whole appointment cost me £25.00
I was so amazed. I got more answers and he said my gland was swollen before I could say it.
I didn't have to say anything then to be told all faces are different.
Mind you they have swollen a little more and the odd thing is I think they make me look younger.
The round puppy look,lol!

Life hey!

Hope you have an amazing week!

HUGE HUG!
