Illustration Friday - Star Gazing

Hello friends.  I couldn't resist this weeks topic at Illustration Friday. I had a great idea for last weeks, but never got to it on time, and was determined to not miss this one. I'm still working on my watercolor skills, I'd like to be more loose and playful, not always controlled.
Here's a tip for anyone wanting to practice with watercolor:   never paint on 90lb watercolor paper without stretching it first. This painting buckled big time!

Pink it is lovely, you are doing quite well with watercolor. I have found that I do not use watercolor on anything less than 140 lb watercolor paper. I always secure my paper with painters tape before I begin, including with 300 lb paper. If you purchase your paper in blocks you don't have to stretch it.

She is so cute! I am just starting out trying watercolors and have bought several books to help me out. I had no idea you had to stretch the paper first until I read it in one of my books.

I really like this piece a lot!

Beautiful! I think this is such a sweet illustration - well done! Yes, watercolor paper can be challenging...I try to use watercolor blocks for that reason (buckling). Keep up the lovely work and thank you SO much for your wonderfully kind words!!
