It's here! the One World One Heart Blogging Event.

hello everyone! this is an exciting day. It is the 5th and final One World One Heart event, an idea brought to life by the wonderful Lisa Swifka.
This is an event for bloggers worldwide, in which we get to visit new blogs, make new friends, and even have a chance to win a prize.  This is my third time participating in this annual event where I have discovered many new blogs and met some fantastically creative people.

I will be drawing two winners  for my giveaway.  The first prize will be for the original mixed media angel painting you see on the top of this post (size: 6" x 8" canvas)  (15 x 20 cms).
The second prize will be for your choice of any print from my Etsy Shop.

For those who don't know me, I am a self taught artist who likes to create all kinds of whimsical art including ACEOs, angels, mermaids, and big eyed girls.

How to enter my giveaway

In order to have a chance to win, all you have to do is have a blog, and leave a comment on this post. Very easy, right?
The giveaway ends on February 17th, and I will use a Random Number generator to pick the winners.
I will announce the winner on my blog, as well as contact them.

For more information, and for a list of all participants,  please go to the OWOH blog, and enjoy your trip around the world!

Snowstorms and Sleeping Beauty

Hi everybody, have you all been blog hopping in the One World One Heart event? If you haven't, there is still lots of time to get in on the fun. You can find new blogs to enjoy, meet new people, and hey! you can even win some cool giveaways! I am part of this years event, and if you would like a chance at my giveaway, comment on the previous post, or click right here to be taken there.

I heard last night that some massive snowstorms are hitting the US and some parts of Eastern Canada. Those of you in the path of this storm, please stay safe! This is the perfect excuse to stay in if you can. I wonder if it will still be going on tomorrow during the Superbowl?
Ok I shouldn't admit this because some may think I am crazy, but I really wish it was coming our way. We have had the easiest winter ever! hardly any snow, no snowstorms, I really miss it! I have always loved a good blizzard. Oh well, on a positive note, I won't have to be out shoveling my driveaway :-)

The ACEO you see at the top had  been sitting unfinished, for probably a few months. Today I thought I may as well try and get her done. You wouldn't believe how many unfinished paintings I have lying around!
It was fun to work in such tiny details, especially on the face. Normally faces this small give me trouble, but not this one, and I didn't even have to put on my reading glasses to see, lol!
(For those who don't know what an ACEO is, it is small format  art, and the size is the same as a baseball card.)

Well, time for a bit of a break, since Sleeping Beauty took me a few hours to do. I'm now going to make a nice cup of coffee and watch another episode of Everybody loves Raymond.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The case of the disappearing blogger...

Yup, that would be me. This is only my second post this year.  I better get moving though, since the great One World One Heart event starts next Monday! It will be so much fun, just like last year.  I haven't yet decided what my giveaway will be, if I will paint something new, or give away one of my previously done paintings. Guess we will find out on Monday, lol!

I'm still painting my little ACEOs, the cat you see above I took from my sister's fridge. I drew her cat 'Zeus' on black paper, and since she won't let me have it back, I will be re-doing a similar one to put in my shop. I should mention Zeus is a female. She was a Birthday gift for my sister, and when we were at the pet store we were told she was a boy. Fast forward a few months,  Zeus was acting very strange, clingy, wouldn't leave you alone, so I got a little suspicious about the behavior. I told a friend at work who grew up with cats, we called my sis at home and had her flip the cat over to take a look, and yes, Zeus was a girl! lol! The name stayed, even though I was hoping she'd change it to Zena.

That's it for now, check back on Monday and join me on a magic carpet ride

I feel like a pirate!

It was a long and tiring week at work. I so looked forward to coming home and relaxing. Well, today was my lucky day! Look at all my loot! I came home to three packages of goodies, and a notice that another parcel was at the post office for me to pick up tomorrow :-D

I took part in the One World One Heart giveaway, and ended up winning a couple of prizes myself. The first one showed up today, from the super talented and awesome
Ostrich girl. I had an idea what to expect but to actually see it, what a generous giveaway! Sheri I can't thank you enough! It's better than I expected!

Next thing I found was my new Blythe doll, Star Dancer. I have wanted her since I first saw her, and she is perfect! Unfortunately I have not learned how to photograph my blythes creatively, so here is a simple picture of her.

And my last goodies of the day are two new yoga DVDs I had pre-ordered last year. They were finally released! I am hoping they will get me off my lazy butt. I did yoga regularly for years, until art took priority in my life. Now I barely exercise. Hopefully this will change, as my jeans don't fit me anymore, lol!

New artwork coming soon....I've got a new girl painted, I just have to scan her....

Some blog love

I did not plan this post. It just came to me as I was checking out some of my comments. As many of you are aware, there is a gigantic blog giveaway called One World One Heart (scroll down for details). It has brought together bloggers from all over the world, and has made me discover people I would not have 'met' otherwise. It really became clear today, as I was looking through various blogs, that we truly are connected.

There is no separation between people, only perceived separation. I look at the pictures on blogs, and am struck with the fact that these people could be my friends, and neighbors, and family. I look at a face, and think, yes, we could be best friends, if we only lived closer. We all face struggles. It is only natural to think that only we know what we are going through, and we feel alone. But reading some blogs today I came across a woman who wrote a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to her beloved father who passed away many years ago. She showed pictures of all the grandchildren he never knew. I came across a blogger whose husband was dealing with cancer. Another lost her job and her family was dealing with uncertainty. I could go on, but you get the picture.

We really are not alone in this world, there are many that face the same issues as us. Maybe it is time for us to reach out just a little bit more. Maybe by doing so, you can give some comfort to someone who feels alone. And don't be afraid to accept a helping hand. Maybe we could create a more beautiful peaceful world if we just open to the idea that we are One.

One world, one heart.

Have a blessed day!

Time for Another Alice

Being part of the 'One World One Heart' giveaway (scroll below to the next post) made me see how much talent is out there! People have amazed me, and have made me so proud to be part of this group. What a great opportunity to meet new friends, and find more blogs to love!

I want to thank all the wonderful people who have entered my giveaway. I never expected so many comments, and I read every one of them. I have decided to add one more print. It will be a print of my latest painting (the one above), so there will be 3 winners instead of 2. This giveaway ends Feb 12th so there is lots of time to comment, and check out other participating blogs.
Thank you also to the followers of my blog! I love each and every one of you, and I thank you for believing in me and my work.

Right after I joined, I was inspired to create another mixed media painting on wood.
This one is titled 'Another Alice' (which I may change soon). I searched for the perfect quote from 'Alice in Wonderland' and none of them worked, or they were too long for this small piece. Finally, listening to a song called Karma Police by Radiohead, these words jumped out at me, and I thought they just might work.

What do you think? Words or no words? I wanted something a bit more than just a pretty girl.

***Just to avoid confusion, if you want to be entered in my giveaway, leave a comment on the post below this one titled 'One World One Heart Giveaway'. That is the post I will be drawing names from, not this one.... :-D

One World One Heart Giveaway

Photo

Hello everyone! I have decided to take part in the One World One Heart giveaway hosted by Lisa Swifka. This is a world wide giveaway with bloggers from around the world participating. I had never heard of this until yesterday, but after visiting several participating blogs, and finding out that I could still join, I scrambled for something to offer. So I will be offering 2 prizes.

First prize is a 6" x 12" (15 x30Cm's) original painting called 'Harvest Queen'. She was woodburned on a piece of thin wood first, then I added lots of layers of paint, stamping, embellishments, you get the picture :-). The painting comes with a coordinating ribbon so it is ready to hang.

The second prize I am offering is a print of one of my favorite mixed media paintings called 'Petite Marie'. The print is on 8.5 x 11" (22.5 x 28cms) paper, with lots of white for easier framing.

How to enter: All you have to do is add a comment to this post, anyone is able to enter, you don't need to have a blog to do so. However, just make sure if you don't have a blog to leave me a name and an email address so I can easily reach you if you are the winner. The giveaway ends Feb 12, when I will draw 2 winning names.

Click on the blue button on top to take you to the page with all participating bloggers listed on the right hand side.
Thank you all, and good luck!

******COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED. I will announce the winners today at approximately
