Saying goodbye to the world's sweetest dog

Tonight I found out that our dog Frankie, was put down. Even though I knew that he was suffering, it doesn't make it any easier. He was 14, and so tired. His eyes just lost that spark, and it was a matter of time. I will miss him dearly. We had him since he was a 6 week old puppy. He was so energetic, constantly biting and jumping, we never thought he would settle down but he did. He turned into the most beautiful companion anyone could ever ask for. Sweet tempered, gentle, smart, it was hard watching him deteriorate.
I will miss you Frankie, rest in peace

Ooh, that's so sad... pets can bring so much joy into our lives, we just had a fish tank mishap on Saturday and 3 of our beloved Koi fish died.

I'm so sorry to hear about Frankie. I lost my own wonderful 14 year old pooch last week and have found that doing exactly what you are doing...reaching out to others and talking about it has helped tremendously. Writing down lots of the stories that made me love him and laugh so much also helped by making me concentrate on the good stuff, so maybe you would find that good for you too?

So sorry my sweet girl. We just went through this a little while ago and our hearts were broken. You will always have wonderful memories. Life would not have been near as wonderful without him and you will always know that too. I know that doesn't help right now, but know your sweet fur baby is in good hands! Kathy

I'm so sad for you. Losing a pet is the hardest thing. They ask so little and give so much in return. My heart goes out to you.

The following is a poem I received from a friend when I lost my beautiful Angel dog some years ago:

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing: They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly looks up! The nose twitches. The ears are up. The eyes are staring. And this one suddenly runs from the group.

You have been seen and, when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the RAINBOW BRIDGE together, never again to be separated.

We will keep you in our greyt prayers and send you white light for your own healing journey. Frankie will be with you always...just look for him in your heart. Talk to hi, he will answer. And one day, you will join him at the Rainbow Bridge, where he waits...patiently.
My sincerest sympathies

Oh, I am SO SORRY! We are going through something similar with a terminally ill dog, and it is so heartbreaking.

We have a 14 year old dog too. He's such a sweet old man and he's still happy and fairly healthy, but he's also almost deaf and seems like he has some memory problems - has his good days and less good days. When he starts to have bad days, well, then, we'll be faced with that difficult decision. Sending you a big hug while you're missing your furry friend.

I understand completely. We put our 14 year old dog down last summer and it was one of the hardest things ever. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
