I'm joining Sophia at Blue Chair Dairy in her Sunday Sketches. I'm not always able to stick with something, but sketching doesn't take too much time, so hopefully I can keep it up. Here is my first one, a simple sketch of a face. The eyes are a bit funny which I didn't notice until now. Take a look at Sophia's blog to see her sketch, as well as other artists who are joining in.
If you were to look through my sketch books, you would see mostly rough ideas. Pages and pages of them. I rarely take the time to create a decent sketch, mostly getting them down for later. I hate to admit this, but I almost feel like since time is so valuable, that I can't afford to take an hour on a sketch that no one will see but me.
Below is a sample page from one of my sketch books, as you can see, all I draw is whimsical faces. Although lately, I have been working on ACEOs because they are more popular. I would love to get back to my larger paintings, but have been finding it hard to get motivated. They take so many hours to do, and it feels like time is speeding up. Whenever I have a free day, it seems to fly by and before you know it, it's too late to begin.
One thing I do know, is that you can change things in a moment. Any day now, I know I will just pull out a canvas, and begin. Isn't that an encouraging thought?

I LOVE those sketches!
How funny...I just picked up a sketch book this week and have been trying my hand at it in those late night hours when I can't sleep. Thus far, symmetry and I have not made friends, but I'm hoping to have some non-disfigured faces soon. :)
I love your honesty - I think many of us struggle with why we are creating (& thus, end up not doing it as much as we like). I'd do as I say & not as I do (yup, guilty): Just create, regardless of who sees it.
Nice sketch, lovely face!! I'm a newbie on the Sunday Sketches...love your blog!
Happy Sunday Sketching!
Lovely sketch of her face, very pretty! You sketch book looks like mine, hehehe in mine I've got pages of faces and eyeballs and lips. I'm off to get cracking on my Sunday sketch!
Betty,
I love your sketch. You do so well with the eyes. Something I need to learn to be better at. She is gorgeous.
Thank you for participating. It means alot. :)
Happy SS!
I love the face you drew. I don't see anything wrong with the eyes. Here's to you doing what you would really like to do soon.
Lovely, her eyes are great! looking forward to next Sunday's sketch.

Hi Betty! So great to meet you, your sketches are lovely, especially this one. I think the eyes are great, but we artists are often our own worst critics! I love your nickname and your avatar too, keep up the great work, you'll get that painting done yet! Happy SS, Susan
I like her eyes, they have personality, sort of like a cat
just wanted to pop back by and say thanks for the visit to my blog today! also, I wanted to answer your question about Nora Roberts...I haven't seen any of the movies, in fact the three books listed on my blog are the first of hers I have read. I read all those just this past week, that is how much I enjoyed them! :) That was a fun series of books! I see you're also part of ACETSY, me too!! I'm not very active but I'm there!
Your sketch is beautiful. Her eyes are gorgeous - what made you describe them as funny?
The whimsical ones are fun too!
I think it's a beautiful face. Don't begrudge time spent doing something you enjoy. My motto for this year was to 'Simplify' so i could spend more quality time doing what i enjoy rather than spreading myself thinley in all directions and not feel i was devoting adequate time to my projects :)
Sketches are awesome! I think all sketches look alike. Half done and all over the page. :) I even cut mine out and use them on a canvas. :)
Love the sketch and her eyes are great! I might go check out Sophia blog as sketching is something I enjoy doing.
Pink,
I think this face sketch is wonderful. She has the most beautiful face and there is almost a twinkle in her eyes.
Time? Oh, of only we could bottle it. There is never enough. I guess all we can do is put what time we have to good use.
Have a beautiful Monday.
